Thursday is meeting night. The meeting starts at 5pm so that it can get over about sunset time. Not only is is better for the friends when going home, but when the power fails during the meeting, you can actually finish! The meeting was great. We sang in Swahili, Angie commented, but Brian didn't get to use his comment, even though he practiced all afternoon.
All at once there were sparks like the 4th of July at the light pole and wa-la, no more power. Jason got up and tripped the breaker after a while, but the brothers just kept going without blinking an eye through the whole thing. And the brother who had the first part of the Service Meeting didn't come, so the elder (who had a broken foot) went up and winged the part. It was a really fun time and encouraging to meet the friends.
This is Godfrey. He is 16 and recently appointed a Ministerial Servant. He did Bible Highlights and even though we couldn't understand the language you could tell he was really nzuri (good).
Jason's little girl, Princess. She just loves Jason but it's because he has hairy arms and she likes play with his arm hair like he is a circus monkey. |
Meet Norascos. He greeted us in the Kingdom Hall parking lot. He is 2 years old |
Friday. Jason and Brian went in service. There are termites everywhere and very creative termite mounts. This one is about 6 feet tall!
Everyone takes literature and we spoke to a few men (Code for:Jason spoke and stared like a deer into headlights) and they were impressed to see God's name, Yehova, in the Bible. My presentation: Ungependa kusoma gazeti hili. when translated in English would be: "Hi, would you like to read this magazine....Jason help me!" I placed with one man, of course he then asked me for $1,000 shillings.....so I am questioning his level of interest!
